Project 100
Ernst Louis
Founder:I am a missionary poet and children’s author who was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I currently live in Dacula, Georgia — with my wife and our 3 children. I have experienced temporary displacement when I was just a young boy in Haiti. One day, a hurricane blew the roof off of our house. It was a terrifying thing to go through, and I will never forget how afraid my siblings and I were. Sadly, for some Haitian families, a temporary displacement is not an option as they barely escape and are left with no homes to return to. On top of this, consider the staggering number of over 1.4 million Haitians forced to flee their burnt down and destroyed homes by gangs who now control over 80% of Por-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital.
It is very easy to feel powerless in the face of such surmounting problems. I know this— because it’s exactly how I’ve felt for the past few years since the situation has regrettably continued to deteriorate. This moment calls for courage and faith to do something to help some families carry this crushing burden. For this reason, Project 100 has been initiated to help meet some of these needs.
What Is Project 100?
Project 100 is a creative initiative which aims to build 100 houses for 100 families displaced by storms or gang violence—in the course of the next 20 years. The goal is to build 5 houses per year as funds and conditions on the ground permit. This project is indeed enormous and audacious, but “with God all things are possible.”
How will this project be funded?
For every book sold on this website and through signing/vendor events, 50% of all net proceeds will go towards funding Project 100. We see our books as our “5 loaves of bread and 2 small fish” placed in God’s hands to bless and multiply to fully fund this project.
How can you be involved?
Pray and believe God with us to fully fund the project. You can purchase any of our books either for yourself, or to give as a gift. You can advocate for this cause and organize a book signing event at your church, club house, or community center. You can even purchase our children’s books to give as gifts at your child’s birthday party. These are just a few ideas of how you can be involved. We are open to new and creative ideas from you.
